The juicy stuff
r/Netherlands is the largest English speaking sub for the Netherlands, which is a big deal considering the amount of tourism and immigration.
For a long time now users have protested the authoritarian behavior of the sub mods (who would have guessed), which always get promptly deleted.
The situation comes and goes with time, and is always quick to escalate given that most of the mods are americans living in USA.
The delete-fest carries on, which only makes users more angry, and hoping for the end of american imperialism on the Dutch subreddit, they keep on posting, denouncing, and asking for a statement, a new subreddit, complete removal of all mods that aren’t living in the Netherlands, etc… https://www.reddit.com/r/Netherlands/comments/1qh3egf/subs_related_to_the_netherlands_where_you_are/

OK, that’s hilarious. First the Dutch sub, then Danish Greenland!
What a shit show.
I have been suspicious of this for a long time and what gives it away is that these scummy mods will NEVER interact with the community. It takes 5 seconds to comment something on a “Hot” post every month. People who aren’t power tripping bastards aren’t afraid to do that with the same account they police the sub with. In the case of the Netherlands, they had nothing usefuk to contrivute because they didn’t actually live there.
Lol SRD deleted that post as not fitting their sub. Wtf that is literally the perfect post for SRD
It’s a fundamental flaw in first-come-first-served moderation that also gets to reserve a unique name.
What’s stopping users from starting a r/Nederlands sub and have it be in Dutch only?
After reading some comments, this was well known some time ago, so everyone moved over to r/TheNetherlands or r/Dutch
Ah! yeah, I’m off Reddit after getting sniped by a bot some months ago so I really don’t bother with the site anymore. It’s good to know that the users on the sub that were concerned about censorship, moved to a new one however.
feddit.nl can make a netherlandsEnglish community, Engels or something like that and invite people over.
[email protected] is the Dutch-language community.
