I think you’re perceiving egos as a negative thing rather than literal, which is kind of coincidental considering the context.
Egoism is a train of thought establishing ideas of how one or others should be based on self sense. It is something internalised that can be externalisrd. This is a core trigger of social anxiety for many and other frictions in society in general.
It very often means an individual pays a lot of attention to and dissects other people. They see the faults in others and so they assume, without any evidence, that this is what others do to them too. Or they have experienced an elevated situation of this happening to them with significant time or individuals of social infouence, so to them, being scrutinised has become normal when it is not. This makes for very anxious interaction with society and social spaces.
Actually one of the far less complex things to diagnose and repair. Like many forms of anxiety, you’d be surprised by the proportion of people suffering who have simply kicked it off with poor sleep behaviour and physical apathy. This is far more common than trauma by externalisation or as a symptom of a personality disorder.
Yeah, but look how much I had to type instead of people taking initiative to fill a gap of ignorance. Some people did or already understood; the rest shot off downvotes quicker than a 5s DDG search, or followed Lemmy’s groupthink cascade, where the arrows become a poster for argumentum ad populum.
Which, again, also kind of really boosts that coincidence going on here. Should my own ego give a fuck, the projecting behaviour of a perceived many others’ ideas of how I should be could impact my social security. Fortunately, I just find it annoying enough to whinge about and couldn’t care less for my own egoism. This simply because I am rarely socially challenged, implying my egoism is similar to others—as we all expect of ourselves. So, I can self-assuredly assume apathy or misunderstanding from others, and that isn’t anxious for me at all. If it were a common occurrence, this could change things, and how people socially perceive me could come to the forefront of my ego, possibly manifesting into social anxiety.
It’s not a wild thing for people to misunderstand the difference between egoism and egotism. You’re castigating the community over the misunderstanding of a single letter between a word that is common and one that is niche, and in a way that screams of your own ego.
Ironically, amusingly, your post drips of egotism.
Yes I do.

Much more helpful of a response than the first one

Yeah. It’s fascinating, no?
Entirely normal, but very overlooked. Food for thought when reading the OP again.
