They’re saying he helped fund China’s bioengineering lab which ended up developing covid 19, and since he has said “my lawyer has advised me not to respond to those questions” as they try to pigeonhole him into whatever they can twist as his fault, they try to hold him in contempt for not answering.
It’s amazing how he found a loophole, it’s not a war, it’s just infinite military operations if you declare it’s a new one every couple days.

Very true, and adding on to what the other person said, the reason is because we are evolutionarily trained to avoid effort because it uses less energy, same reason people will watch a 30 second youtube short over reading a book.
Alongside that, there are some cases where I’ll be working on something and there’s a task I’m actually working on, and some small aside that I can’t be bothered with at that moment. For instance, I’m processing some data from a file and using it to display differing graphics depending on what’s in the file, but I don’t remember how to open it and read the data. If the llm can give me the code that does that, then I can stay focused on the graphics-creation code (and I most likely revisit the file opening later)
LLMs literally reduce our problem solving capabilities as we use them more. Even if the problems are “easy,” we still lose that muscle and have to rely on the llm more and more.

Dying is not a requirement to not pass on genes, and a huge percentage of the population is susceptible to mental illness based on stress or another trigger. If this person was abused growing up that may have caused a mental illness they would have never had in a healthy family. Someone living with mental illness is hard enough, we don’t need gaslighting lying chatbots making it worse.
I took a computer graphics class as a freshman that blew my mind with the concepts, but the math was way above my level. Basically 1/2 the class was graduate students, and the prof was talking about partial derivatives on day 1. There wasn’t even a math requirement…
Around 4 years after the class I went and relearned it and finally realized what the teacher was talking about and I was blown away for a 2nd time.
I mean there are evolutionary reasons most humans feel disgust towards things, in this case mainly the spread of disease. If none of these were problems, there isn’t really a good moral case to be made against it unless you believe in some sort of afterlife.
Same with being disabled, growing up I thought disabled people just got helped by everyone in society with everything. Turns out most of the time it’s “do what you were doing before except harder.”

It’s one of my biggest issues with lemmy, it’s like the democrat that gets us some actually great policies, who does have some big problems, is treated the same as the Republicans passing racist transphobic climate damaging research canceling (also canceled funding for cancer research for children…) legislation.
Democrats seem to be useless because they have to spend 4 years undoing the trainwreck caused by Republicans, but the American people have the memory of a goldfish apparently so we keep getting more Republicans.
