I’m willing to eat better, just don’t make me exercise
I got that, your story-telling was fine, no worries. I’ll admit, I was sort of just making a non-sequitur based on your aside in my commentary there. ✌
Although I did also mean to suggest that if they’re comfortable with this kind of oversight you can’t know what other oversights they’re comfortable with, and thus you really should get checked for infection.
That you were lucky in the temperament of your neighbor’s dog doesn’t change the reality that having a pet that can and does regularly escape enclosure is bad pet ownership. You could have just have likely lost that draw and ended up with a problematic animal that wasn’t properly secured, but thankfully you didn’t. It sounds like the shepherd is a great animal; my condemnation was not direct at all towards the dog, just the dog owner.
Damn how lame is your friends if this is the kinda stuff they’re focusing on?
The shepherd can jump the fence if he wants
Sounds like bad dog ownership overall tbh, and definitely the kind of wound worth checking out for possible infection

1·12 days agoThat’s my impression too, tbh. But when I’ve said that in Civ spaces before I get the “it’s good if you’re not a 6 kiddie” pushback

2·12 days agoThese might be hot takes, but they’re honest, I just have real specific tastes:
The first big one that stands out to me is Tales of Berseria. This game looked incredible to me, but holy shit do I hate the combat with every fiber of my being. I love action games with strong action combat like a Devil May Cry or a Bayonetta, and I love RPGs like Final Fantasy, Persona, and countless others (it’s ones of my favorite genres), but I basically hate almost any and all hybrid action-RPG systems. I just genuinely cannot understand the appeal, and I couldn’t even make it more than a couple hours into Tales of Berseria before giving it up because I hated every single combat interaction I was in.
My other thought was Civ: Beyond Earth. I’ve heard I might have liked the game more if I had come at from a Civ 5 or prior background, but I game into after spending 500+ hours in Civ 6 and by comparison C:BE felt frustrating and meandering and pointless. I enjoyed exactly zero of my minutes spent on the game.

1·12 days agoYeah there were definitely more permanent or sophisticated solutions, but these were cheap and easy and allowed people with one player to play the other type without any of those more sophisticated solutions, and thus they were plentiful enough to become a visual icon of the scene.

4·12 days agoYes, 45 RPM players had wider pegs and smaller plates and were designed for playing 7" 45 RPM singles. The adapter allows a 7" 45 with the wider peg to be played on a standard size LP plate, assuming the player had a 45 RPM play speed setting (most players eventually included 33/45/78 speed; from what I understand it’s really only the very oldest or specialty players that didn’t).

64·12 days agoI think there’s a small handful of powerusers like LadyButterfly, Stamets, The_Picard_Maneuver, formerly FlyingSquid, etc, but they seem to me mostly non-problematic, mostly don’t seem to overreach, and all seem to be actual people who actually interact and engage in discussions as members of their respective communities. I think some of them could post less or be more discerning in what they post, if it was up to me, but I understand that currently all of these type of users are interested in the growth of Lemmy and motivated to do their part to provide content, so I appreciate them vastly more than any critique I have of them. I am wary of the influence and soft power that can be accrued by powerusers, but as of right now I personally don’t think it’s a particular issue the community is currently facing.
But also I am not the most active or engaged community member, especially in the drama or social politics side of the fediverse, so the likelihood of blindspots in my view is high, I’ll admit.
When you have a physical store, all day people will come in, look around, ask you detailed questions about your product, tell you how much they love what you sell, and then leave without buying anything.
I think this is just the experience of selling, not just selling online.

22·19 days agoBullshit. Give any evidence of this claim.
edit: you seem to be confused. I said “give any evidence of this claim,” not “downvote me for rightfully calling out your bullshit.”
That has nothing to do with the topic of whatever “semen retention” is. Also nice puritanical values you’ve got there, very 1640 of you 👉👉
If it’s real it should be very easy to produce peer-reviewed results showing that conclusion.
Unless such evidence is presented, believing “semen retention” is anything is about as founded as believing in crystals or astrology.
