Gaming@lemmy.world•We really lost something when handhelds stopped being pocketable. (a rant)English
41·29 days agoAnother big issue with smartphone gaming is platform decay. The stores require you to constantly update or your game gets kicked off. There are tons of great games that have no legit way to play them, and others are completely lost with no backups existing. I have some games on my phone I can’t delete without risking losing access to them altogether.
Meanwhile I can go put rhythmn heaven in my gba and play it right now.
3 4 and 5 are all great without mods, haven’t played the earlier ones
I have low expectations for 6 but I want them to get it out of the pipe so 7 can be good
Really we should be getting hype for 8 or 9 by now :(
I think a snickers is a great example and you’re foolish for questioning it

Technology@lemmy.world•AI bet goes awry: Oracle fires 21,000 employeesEnglish
2·1 month agoI mean if everyone did that it would work. Obviously not realistic but if we thought a bit more collectively as a species we could do wonderful things.
I was wondering if anyone else was going to call that out.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Netflix hits upon revolutionary new concept: Live TV channelsEnglish
1·2 months agoNo? I didn’t forget anything. There were things I liked about cable - but the ads and the not being able to watch what you wanted sucked.
Something like tv channels, but with no ads and you can go pick and watch what you want like you always have sounds great. There’s a reason there are so many tutorials to set up that experience on services like plex or jellyfin.
And you can say we are going to slippery slope ourselves up to $300 but people are getting better at saying no to higher prices, look at game pass or doritos for two recent big examples
This just feels like netflix giving users something they have been asking for forever and everyone is making the same OMG THEY REINVENTED CABLE LMAOZ comment and I wanted to point out the other side.

2·2 months agoOk but I’ve wanted this forever
Everyone knows the joke about spending an hour looking for something to watch, this could be great for discovery
Now if these services would just let us shuffle episodes…
(I know I know jellyfin/ whatever would be better but I’m broke and $10 a month for a shared account is easier than buying the server equipment right now)

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Those in the US, what's the easiest self employed business you can start up with low cost?English
11·3 months agoProbably some form of drop shipping.
Maybe lawn care? You’d definitely need a loan to buy your equipment but if you can find customers you could pay it back pretty quick and grow from there.

Besides that I would say Genshin is probably your best bet.
